Dr. Derek J. Brown, DMD, MS, PA
Dr. Derek J. Brown graduated from the University of Arkansas with a teaching degree in Biology. He then graduated #1 in his class from the University of Kentucky College of Dentistry with a doctor of Dental Medicine degree. Dr. Brown then received post-doctorate training at one of the nation’s leading orthodontic schools, Baylor College of Dentistry, specializing in Orthodontics and Dentofacial Orthopedics. He considers it an honor to be one of the top orthodontists in Arkansas.
There is an art as well as a science involved when determining the aesthetic values or attractiveness of an individual. Orthodontics and Dentofacial Orthopedics is a special branch of dentistry which evaluates the symmetry, or proportions of the face, jaws and teeth to determine if there is a corrective need for proper function or esthetics.
An Orthodontist is a dentist that has been specially trained for an additional 2-3 years and limits their practice to orthodontics and dentofacial orthopedics (braces). Orthodontists are not allowed to perform general dental procedures such as fillings, crowns, bridges, etc. This ensures that they work very closely with your dentist. Regular visits to your dentist are a critical part of your orthodontic treatment. Dr. Brown will work very closely with your family dentist to focus on creating the beautiful smile you deserve.
